Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.

Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only.  Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista.  Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.

This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY.  Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.

Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.

If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

My 1st feedback is that I choose not to delete all of my skins when uninstalling 5.5 to go up to 6. When I rebooted and it went into the config window it picked right up on the last skin I was using.

But that skin was totally busted. I had to unload WB, delete the skin from the computer, reload the skin into WB, and then re-apply it and it was displaying fine.

Well, I just installed the beta and it doesn't seem to work on my machine. All it does is change the system colors when I apply a skin. SDC updated itself before I d/l'd the beta, so that's not the issue. I basically had the same scenario as TechMedik. I don't know if I should reinstall 5 or just get used to not having 'blinds until this kink is worked out.

A pretty weird install...it asks if you want to uninstall WB 5, and when you click yes it does but it asks you to reboot, but continues with the install of WB 6. If you don't reboot after you uninstalled WB 5, you will have problems.

Just make sure you reboot after the uninstall of WB 5. You will not have WB installed at all after that, but then you can install WB 6 and it seems to work fine.

It might not be the same for everyone, but that is what happened to me.

Great work!

When I tried install WB6 I received error message "Installation failed" I have the latest SDC and had un-installed WB5. I rebooted and tried again ... no luck. So, I rebooted and re-installed WB5. All my skins and settings were intact. One additional detail ... on the first try to install WB6 a message appeared stating that there was an archiving error and did I wish to proceed.

Make sure you have version 2.46.471 build 154 of SDC.

Boss070, what's the version of Stardock Central in Help / About? You need 2.46 Build 154 or later.

After all this time waiting and waiting for WB6 and it still does not support Vista 64 bit. More than just a little disappointing. But then again, us Vista 64 bit users are in the minority and not a priority. Empty promises or did I completely mis-read everything that has been posted. Oh well, I'm pretty much past caring at this point.

Hi Nakor,

Yes, the latest build of SDC installed first and restarted before I did the install of WB 6.

I've NEVER had a problem with new builds of WB, but this time after install all I got was Classic. So I had to uninstall WB6, then reinstall again.

It seems to be working fine now, but it wasn't "seamless" here...I hope there aren't many others with the problem.

I can't seem to get the blur working on the titlebar on my WIP 'blind. It works in other skins and I have every line of code I need. It worked in StealthOS and I have the same code as that skin (just different values).

Is it a BETA, what do you expect? As you mention x32 is still the majority so they will obviously cater to that part of the market first.

Nobody promised that the first beta of WB6 would support 64 bit Vista.  The final version of WB6 will support 64 bit Vista, but for now you need to continue to use WB 5.51 which does support 64 bit Vista (and 64 bit XP)

It makes sense for betas to be 32 bit initially as it reduces the amount of variables in testing.
