Please Read this if your UI is black and painting slowly

If you have installed a pirate copy (AKA cracked) version of WindowBlinds 5, please be aware that the crack is faulty and WindowBlinds will cease to function correctly on your computer.

To fix this you just need to uninstall WB and if you wish install a purchased copy of WB, or the trial.

To uninstall, you can either wait for your computer to login, unload WB (either using wbconfig, display properties, or from a command prompt calling WBLOAD UNLOAD) and then uninstall WB. Or you can boot into safe mode & uninstall WB from there.

Your computer has not been harmed in anyway. Whoever made the crack did a poor job and patched out code that causes WindowBlinds to no longer be able to paint bitmaps (so title bars, borders, everything will be black).

Hi, in order to fix the problems with Windowblinds 5.0, you must change the system date of your system to a time before all these errors started to show.

I suggest changing the date to the current date, only change it to 2005, ie. for today change it to 12th January 2005.

This shall overcome the apparent bug in the new Windowblinds 5.0.

To paraphrase "To steal the trial software by tricking it into thinking it hasn't expired set you clock back a year. Also turn off your time sync. Also expect that any virus scaning software or anything else that might be time critical to fail."

Or trade cash for effort to use something that you think has worth.

The latter, as I thought I'd have to be over 13 to join the site to register, so put in 1973 instead of 1993.

Well for one, I don't use this program as I dont want to change my XP incase I break it too. But I don't see what all the fuss is about when all you need to do to stop the program from breaking down is to change the system date!

Sorry if i sound annoying, I didnt mean to cause offence.

Ok my 2 cents ,if i am going to spend endless hours making skins for W/B users !!!Should i get a free copy ?
I mean i can skin for free if the pg is free....other than that i will use certain text and hex editors to accomplish..And that's why i dont submit my works here....like 10% only..

Why should i pay to enhance your desktops ? ...Should stardock pay me ? Or at least give the freebie out to skinner's..

The only was I could see that working is if Stardock made skinners who wanted their products for free sign a contract saying they have to make a minimum number of skins per month, or year. And I have a feeling Stardock nor skinners would want to have to deal with that.

If you don't want to share your creativity, then just use it on your own computer. Nobody is forcing you to share, and yet, so many people are more than happy to do so.

OK, I am getting mad now. I bought WB5 and I have these troubles. I emailed support but hey no response. I reinstall windows, same problem. New drivers, NVidia 6600gt, all windows updates installed. Please Help!

If you are using a GeForce 6600 you need to roll back to 77.77 drivers, they are the last ones known to work. This is a problem specific to the 6600

oh bloody hell.

Edit:worked for 20 minutes then crapped out on me. It affects explorer first, then to the rest of my apps. Any other solutions? I have 1gb of ram, amd 64 3000+, so it should run nice. Any help is welcome.
