Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.

Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only.  Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista.  Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.

This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY.  Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.

Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.

If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

Karmat, the odds are overwhelming you're using a 32-bit OS. Right click on your My Computer/Computer icon and select Properties. On Vista, it'll explicitly mention "System Type: 32-bit Operating system" (or 64). I think XP will also indicate it in a similar fashion, but I'm not rebooting tonight to check.

You really really have to work to get a 64-bit version of Windows installed still (doesn't tend to come preloaded), so you probably are on 32-bit.

Kris

I for one will patiently wait for the 64 bit version

And as far as it being really really hard to get it installed - it was as easy as 32 bit to do it on my rig AND all my software from my 32 bit side works!!!!!

I don't suppose you could give me a pointer or two as to how I do that?

Open skin in SkinStudio, from explorer tree, Shell Animations-Animation Files, then on right, Section tab you will see the file sections, click on first one then from drop menu below preview select the proper file. Once you have set all save and apply.

Animations can be added in Skinstudio for Diamond. With my inexperience I found easily how to do that. But I could not find some animations, namely file copy, file move. Or I am wrong? May be this is the reason why default MS animations were left for Diamond...

There is one animation for both, Diamond\ani_copy_move.avi

Can't seem to get the Sidebar to change to the new style that came with WB6. I tried applying it many times, unloading and reloading WB, even a reboot.

when you try and edit the background colour on the diamond skin, you get a message saying the skin has critical errors and must be validated before saving, when you go to validate it, there is a huge list of errors, each update i have downloaded for wb6 does nothing to alleviate this problem and because the skin cannot be validated i have to keep changing the background every time the computer reboots

With the latest update the Leo skin uses MS Sans Serif. What was wrong with Tahoma? Now it just looks like crap.
Nimbin: The problem is SkinStudio 5.5 doesn't support parts of the skin that are new, and sees the titlebar as missing.

Don't validate it. Just click no and save. Your changes will remain.

Reboot problem!

Running Vista 32

I have the correct Stardock version.

Uninstalled WB5 - rebooted, installed WB6 and was prompted to Reboot again, which I did and got same answer.
Well, I then uninstalled WB6, rebooted and installed it again. Rebooted and got same answer.
I do not have any security programs enabled.
I added it to Windows firewall, so it would allow it.
I ran it with admin rights.

What do I do wrong?

Do I need to register(activate?) WB6 when I have Object Desktop registered? If so, how?
Does it make any difference, if I install it in a different folder than WB5?
