Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.

Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only.  Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista.  Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.

This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY.  Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.

Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.

If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

warreni: You seem to be missing wbhelp.dll which may explain your problems.  I would uninstall WB6, reboot and then install WB6 again.

Neil, do you know anything about my problem? I can send the WindowFrame.TopPerPixel section if you'd like.

A pretty weird install...it asks if you want to uninstall WB 5, and when you click yes it does but it asks you to reboot, but continues with the install of WB 6. If you don't reboot after you uninstalled WB 5, you will have problems.

Just make sure you reboot after the uninstall of WB 5. You will not have WB installed at all after that, but then you can install WB 6 and it seems to work fine.

That's exactly how the install went for me. But so far every thing seems to work just fine for me.
Using SDC version 2.46.471 build 154

Followed the prompts and as far as I can see everything loaded okay. No broken old skins. I'll be looking for one of ID's reviews to walk use all through the new features.

I know it's still a beta, but what the heck, great job everyone.

kittymalone: Only OD customers can install WindowBlinds 6 currently.  Standalone WindowBlinds customers cannot install it.

Okay I got stardock central updated to the exact build said required... *2.46.471 build 154*
I still get an error that my registration is invailid for WB 6.. I made sure WB 5 was regististered and tried registering WB 6 *in the product registaration dialog box* with the only WB serial I had but it still said it was invailid...

I would really like to try and get WB 6 and get it working to test it out..

I am not sure now what else to do...

Any advice would be helpful...

AnneMarie: The beta is for purchasers of Object Desktop, not standalone WindowBlinds.  It should not be showing for standalone customers but is due to a bug which should be fixed in the morning.

While some people who own WB5 will get free upgrades to WB6 when it is released, they do not have access right now.  For those outside of the free upgrade window there will be a charge, but things are not setup to handle that currently.

Done.

*sigh* well dang.. alright...

I don't quite understand why you have to be a Object Desktop owner if you are a subscriber and/or bought the product but I will have to accept it

I apologize for not reading the "Red Text" that stated the Object Desktop only thing...

Thanks

I just added the red text.

The reason it is OD only is because no WB standalone customer has bought WB6 as you cannot buy it right now.

The only glitch I had was the SDC update went not-responding but must have completed the update anyway. I restarted it, it uninstall 5, installed 6.......but I rebooted before I let it "use the program" Working good for me!

Vista install went as expected and all works very well - all controls function properly!

Great work Stardock team!
