Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.

Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only.  Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista.  Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.

This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY.  Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.

Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.

If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

Is the trans control for start menu just a Vista thing or should it work on my XP. Trans control for taskbar, window frames and menus work fine.

WB6 is working great here. It even seems to load skins faster in the config window and apply them faster as well.

I do have one gripe though. The transparency (at least for my skin of choice currently) doesn't seem to work at all. I'm using "aerial" by danillOC. The taskbar is transparent no matter what settings I choose to apply. Does this mean I have to go into SKS and change the attributes for the taskbar image or is this a "bug/feature" ? It's not a major thing either way, but I don't want a transparent taskbar unless the skin is designed that way. And aerial is so nice sleek and black with no transparency.

Thanks for any insight you can give for this dilemma.

Besure the auto archive check box is selected if there is a problem you can fall back to the earlier release's that way. If not - oh well... good luck it is a beta release remember that - always make sure you have good backups and all your system is ready for a beta install.

All seems to works fine for me under XP and Vista box. Except one thing: If you don't backup your themes, the upgrade process delete VectorCell and others themes.

Good works Stardock team!

installed the new SDC first.

Showed DX and WB6 updates available, clicked update now. DX installed. Got the 'previous version of WB must be uninstalled first. Did that. Rebooted. Naked Computer

Opened SDC, no update prompted, but showed WB6 as available to install. Installed, rebooted.

Working as expected. VERY NICE!!! On XP no less. It might be just in my head, but there *seems* to be more areas allowed to be transparent/translucent.

Even got an unexpected bonus: The new SD skin "Diamond" allows for full window drags, not just the outline. (my graphics card isn't up to spec) It's a little slow, but still. It's the only skin which allows that. That skin seems to slow everything else down. Don't know why. Changing to anything else clears up the slowness.

My only beef is that changing skins is now very, very slow.

There is a process showing up called "WBINST~2.exe. Don't know what that is, haven't tried killing it, but it won't go away on its own.

Answered my own question - the current SDC download isn't the one you need, but it at least prompts for the newest version on first launch, so I'm there. Now, for the fun part.

Downloaded update, my skin titlebar still no blur.

Works fine and dandy under XP.

No go under Vista 32 Ultimate.

I'm getting the "you must reboot" error message ad nauseum.

I disabled Windows Defender since that is the only registry protecting application I have (besides NOD32 antivirus) and UAC is disabled on this machine.

I have admin privileges and this is a Quadro FX 4000 workstation display card so it is more than zesty enough.

Anyone else getting "you must reboot" over and over again?

Yeah...I just noticed it deleted some skins! Why on earth would someone do that without a warning of some kind? Who would expect before hand that this would happen!

ok in vista 32 business.

Vector Cell is missing. Is there a list somewhere of which skins got deleted so we can do reinstall them?

And I'm also having the problem about the window frames not blurring over certain things. Examples: there's no blur when placed over Winamp, and when hovering over my Avedesk widgets...it doesn't see them at all, only the wallpaper behind them.

Impressive. I'm using the beta of WB6 on Windows Vista Home Premium. Where to begin.. The Sidebar skins (which you can create your own).. The vast options for coloring and transparency.. Having Diamond as a skin to use.. I'm very satisfied. Can't wait for The RC and then Final... Stardock has outdone themselves this time.. Well worth this wait. (I'm obviously a Stardock whore if you look at my screen shot. And proud of it! lol)..
