Please let us know
Published on November 24, 2016 By Neil Banfield In WindowBlinds

If you have compatibility issues with WindowBlinds and an application or game, please do let us know in this thread so we can investigate it and hopefully resolve the problem.

Please make sure you are running the latest version of WindowBlinds first and that the problem exists with a theme included with WindowBlinds vs a downloaded one.

Please provide as much detail as you can, screenshots of the problem, information on the application itself, how to reproduce the problem and if possible dmp files from any crashes.

The information on the about WindowBlinds page and information on your setup would be helpful too.

Thank you, issue seems to be gone at least on HwInfo, but I bet it fixed same issue on other apps, if I ever encounter it again, will report.

What baffles me is why the built-in updater never informed of an update (not even when clicking "check updates" button inside WindowBlinds, which I did before posting).

Great, glad you get is solved. But, not really sure on that updater issue. Might be there was temporary glitch somewhere.

Thank you,

WindowBlinds' updates have been broken since version 10.8. I've recently had to use the purge tool to start over completely afresh with version 10.84 because I was having problems. I had two entries for WB in my Remove Programs list since 10.82 and the About page on the config app showed 10.8 with certain components having not been updated since May. There was a period when I was not a subscriber but I was still getting update notifications and was able to download 10.84 full version none the less.

I and at least one other person have reported problems with updates being advertised only for the version (supposedly) installed to download again and for the installer to claim it had completed but in reality having not done so.

The purge tool seems to have worked and although I'm having trouble with a retro skin, I plan to switch to an Xmas theme anyway so will report any further issues.

Office 365 apps are not skinned by Windowblinds. This is the main set of apps I use every day, and they are very hard to see.

Yes MS Office is not skinable by Windowblinds and if you have Dark Theme skin that change Windows System color, you might have problem seeing thing in MS Office. Best choice is to use Skin that don't change Windows System colors.

Hey Just thought I'd mention that Qbittorent looks weird with windowblinds. When you try to make the window bigger using the cursor it makes many overlapping borders and lines. Thanks.

I'm not getting this unless you're referring to the general way that windows can be slow to render with WB when resizing so you get a stuttering effect. This might be a slow hardware problem or with things not up to date. Else it might be a quirk of a particular skin?

Ok, here we go.

I have an issue with WindowBlinds and Skype that has been ongoing for a year or so now.

The reason I haven't reported it is that I don't want the usual, "Here, run this purge file and get back to us."  It doesn't work, and I'm not doing it. Please don't ask.

So, when I launch Skype, there is a gap up the left side of the window where I can see through the frame to the desktop. I must relaunch Skype several times to fix it.

As I set WB config to NOT skin Skype, I find that Skype, unskinned, responds to WinFX animations, whereas, it didn't when skinned.

So, can we maybe fix both of these issues?

I cannot reproduce this

As you know, RND, we need more information if you can.  Screenshots, video, what skins if not all, does it work if you disable your monitor management software (UltraMon, Actual Multiple Monitors) that I believe you use.

Ok, I can get a screenshot. I thought I described it fairly plainly so you can understand.

All skins.  As for the WinFX anims, I fail to understand why you'd need a video to know it isn't animating, I just told you it isn't. Pretty plain.

I do not use any multi monitor software.  I used to use DisplayFusion until you advised me to lose it.  3 monitors though.

I would also add that this was a fresh install of Windows 10 about a month ago, yet the issue remains after the reinstall.

If I can't reproduce it on two Win10 boxes (one gen release, one FastRing), as you had seen in the video for both your issues, we have to figure out why you can't - what setting, app, or configuration you have that is causing it not to work. No doubt, you have had plenty of time to install many apps and perform many setting changes, since the install of Windows.

Knowing this, RND:

And knowing that a clean boot would likely help us the most :

how would you like to proceed for WindowBlinds?

For WinFX, does everything animate if things are not skinned?

Almost everything. The occasional dialog box doesn't, not an issue for me.

I will try a clean boot.

I can tell you that every machine I own has this issue ( I have several ) and most of them have very little 3rd party software on them.  I do not tweak many settings on my systems.

Pardon any "attitude" you may be getting from me, I had surgery friday and am on drugs.

Upon clicking the StartWB.zip link, I get this:

Sean, the issue was there same day of the reinstall. Stardock apps go in first, of course.
