Please let us know
Published on November 24, 2016 By Neil Banfield In WindowBlinds

If you have compatibility issues with WindowBlinds and an application or game, please do let us know in this thread so we can investigate it and hopefully resolve the problem.

Please make sure you are running the latest version of WindowBlinds first and that the problem exists with a theme included with WindowBlinds vs a downloaded one.

Please provide as much detail as you can, screenshots of the problem, information on the application itself, how to reproduce the problem and if possible dmp files from any crashes.

The information on the about WindowBlinds page and information on your setup would be helpful too.

No, I don't think it will help, it is too much work

Please let us know when you have had the time to complete that step.

As suggested, you need to do the cleanboot to see which apps is conflicting with Windowblinds. Comparing your Screenshot on explorer vs my explorer, refer below, those are showing clearly something is overwriting normal explorer. Which I suspect is one of the culprit for your problem.

Thank you,

I get black bits, or at least I have in the past, and that was when the software was telling me I had the latest version installed but didn't (please see my previous post). It seemed to occur when you can tell Windows needs a full reboot (I hibernate my machine between sessions) and other things start to fall apart e.g. Explorer using too many resources etc., not just the visuals; you know what I mean?

I've just loaded Corporate and it's fine for me, for now. Saying that though, I have fixed my problem with WB (at least up to the last beta, I can only assume for the stable release that I also installed when prompted the other day) and I know that my video-card drivers are correctly installed. I mention this too because I also suspected that of being another possible reason for problems.

  1. For WB- my solution was to unload WB before installing manually from the installer again (v10.74). Right click on the WB icon in the notification area and click Unload Windowblinds.
  2. Before you reboot, make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers installed with GeForce Experience. It takes a while to install but if you don't get a confirmation message at the end that everything installed correctly there's a chance that something went wrong and so you'll need to try again. Persevere until it goes through fine. It may take a few attempts unfortunately.

If neither of these things work then it would probably mean something else is interfering in which case you will have to go through the cleanboot procedure.

Thanks it worked.

The strange thing is I could not find the WB to unload, so I uninstalled completely, and before I chose the classic theme. After the installation I was able to find the WB.

Seems to be something went wrong in the installation, so for now all the problems that I had are gone.

Thanks again, I was about to give up and remove WB for ever.

Glad to hear it! I shouldn't play down tech support too much though, even if "have you tried turning it off and on again" is so often the solution.

Certainly appreciate any and all help but I do need to point out that the recommended 'Purge' would / should have resolved his issue.

I did that, I uninstalled and installed 3 times, the third time worked. The 'Purge'did not work, I tried it.

I think the uninstall did not clean everything the first two times.

Nice comedy the IT-Crowed

The question is why the WB icon was not in the taskbar.

I'd like to point out that for me Object Desktop Manager was installing each beta as it became available, or at least it was reporting that it had done so. The installation went fine and both it and WB were even reporting that no further updates were available; however, I was not getting an About page like as shown. It was only because I saw that screenshot that I bothered to check.

Only once I had unloaded WB and then run the installer for v10.74 manually (and rebooted) did WB report that I was on that version, rather than v10.65 as it was showing before. I don't know where the problem lies with this one or whether I have even been stuck on v10.65 this whole time or not but thought I should mention it anyway.
I think someone should point this out as a possible bug to the relevant people because, after some computer trouble (when I thought incorrectly that Windowblinds was to blame so I had it unloaded), on launching WB today it asked me to update to v10.74. Which, again, I assumed I already had. OK, perhaps my computer is the worst but I like to think I take good care of it. I unloaded before installing this time so we'll see what happens when it loads next (I haven't rebooted yet) but the fact that this is still happening seems like a problem to me. I don't know why nobody else seems to have reported it too yet though. :/

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues, but you should try this. Firefox's 3 bar menu -> Customize -> (Bottom left) Tick check box "Title bar" No need to exclude FF from Windowblinds.

This works for me. What is RTL mode?

RTL mode

'Right to left' I believe....

As in Arabic and such? I can type with the setting turned on but it doesn't stick when I click OK. Assuming that what this is about.

Please look Screen shots.

The issue is the toolbar. It renders the icons over on the left, but it still thinks under the hood that they are over on the right. You have to move the mouse to the right to get the actual operations.

And for the "Dynamic" skin it is even worse. If I use no skin and let the system manage the application then it is fine.

PS. I missed the previous replies. RTL is right-to-left. And the title bar does not work.

PPS. The resize icon is drawing the wrong way round.
